How UGC NET Marks Are Calculated
Total Marks = (Correct in Paper 1 × 2) + (Correct in Paper 2 × 2)
- Correct: +2 marks
- Wrong: 0 marks — no negative marking
- Dropped question: full marks to every candidate who attempted it
Paper 2 for Kannada typically runs 100 questions worth 200 marks, added to Paper 1’s 100 marks, for 300 total.
Why Manual Counting Goes Wrong
Kannada response sheets, like every UGC NET subject, list questions by Question ID rather than a clean 1–150 sequence, with some IDs skipped between shifts. Objecting to an Answer
- 4-day window from the day the provisional key is published
- ₹200 per question, non-refundable
- A citation from a standard Kannada literature or grammar reference strengthens your objection
- Only the provisional key accepts objections — not the final one
Qualifying Marks
- General category: 40% aggregate across both papers
- Reserved categories: 35% aggregate
- JRF: a higher cutoff, announced subject-wise with the final result
