How This Tool Gets You Your Score in Seconds

  • Upload the response sheet PDF you downloaded from the NTA portal
  • The tool reads every question you were asked and what you answered
  • It matches each one against the official Economics answer key
  • You get an instant total, plus a full table showing correct, wrong, and unattempted questions side by side

No manual tallying, no risk of losing your place halfway through 150 questions.

The Math Behind Your Score

For anyone who wants to understand what’s actually being calculated:

Total Score = (Correct in Paper 1 × 2) + (Correct in Paper 2 × 2)

  • Right answer: +2 marks
  • Wrong answer: 0 marks — UGC NET does not deduct for incorrect attempts
  • A question NTA drops after review: full marks awarded to everyone who attempted it

Economics Paper 2 typically has 100 questions worth 200 marks, added to the shared Paper 1’s 100 marks, for 300 total. NTA calculates this raw score first, then normalizes it into a percentile across shifts before applying cutoffs.

Why Candidates Miscount Economics Marks Manually

A few things specific to this paper trip people up when counting by hand:

  • Numerical/data-based questions take longer to verify, so candidates rush through the rest and lose track of which row they’re on
  • Some sessions include more than one accepted answer for a question after NTA reviews objections — these are easy to miss entirely in a manual tally, silently undercounting your real score
  • Question IDs on the response sheet don’t map cleanly to serial numbers 1–150, so lining up the wrong row against the key is a common, invisible mistake

The calculator sidesteps all of this by matching on the actual Question ID, not position on the page.

Downloading Your Response Sheet and Answer Key

  1. Go to ugcnet.nta.nic.in
  2. Look for the “Question Papers, Recorded Responses and Answer Key” link once it’s live for your session
  3. Log in with your Application Number and DOB or password, then enter the security PIN
  4. Download your Economics question paper, response sheet, and provisional answer key — save all three promptly, since NTA typically takes this access down after 2–3 days

Challenging an Answer You Disagree With

  • Objection window: 4 days from the day the provisional key is published
  • ₹200 per question, non-refundable, paid online only
  • Cite a specific textbook, established model, or standard economic theory to support your challenge
  • The final key cannot be challenged — this is the only window you get

Minimum Qualifying Score

  • General category: 40% aggregate across both papers
  • Reserved categories: 35% aggregate
  • JRF cutoff: higher, and announced subject-wise alongside the final result

What UGC NET Economics Paper 2 Actually Tests

Meant for candidates with a postgraduate degree in Economics or a closely related discipline, the paper spans ten broad units: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Statistics and Econometrics, Mathematical Economics, International Economics, Public Economics, Money and Banking, Growth and Development Economics, Environmental Economics and Demography, and the Indian Economy. Questions tend to mix theoretical models with applied, policy-relevant scenarios — so purely formula-based prep tends to underperform against candidates who can also reason through real-world economic situations.
